Challenges of motherhood

Before we dive into who I am or what coaching is about and its technicalities, I hope that you can spare 2 minutes to read this short article.

Issue

Can you relate to the following image?

If you can relate, you are not alone.

These are the struggles I had first hand experience in and often come across in different mummy group chats. Another struggle I wanted to include in the graphic but hesitated is the topic of breastfeeding. Yes, everybody knows breastmilk is best for baby, but is it best for mummy? I personally see this as a controversial topic that usually tears group chats apart, group chats that are supposed to provide support.

Disclaimer: I am unable to help you with your breastfeeding issues, but if this is something you would like to talk about during our sessions, I will hold this safe space for you.

Impact

The challenges illustrated in the image above often result in the following:

  • Lack of sleep

  • Lack of support from family members

  • Unable to get anything done

  • Questioning your identity as a mother or even as a person

Improvement - How can coaching help you?

In my case when I was a new mother, I turned to coaching to help me find a direction in life as I was also dealing with other personal issues then. Through coaching, I identified my main struggle in relationships. How I handled relationships had a direct impact on how I see myself as a parent and from there I was able to work out a parenting style for myself.

As a coach on how I can help you, we will go through the coaching conversation plus some tools to help with your prioritisation, be equipped with parenting skills and develop your unique parenting style. While these sessions can help address your immediate concerns, coaching is able to uncover parts of yourself that you may be unaware or less aware of. Thereby causing a shift in your mindset that can be applied to other aspects of your life.
